Just realized it’s been a long time since I updated this site. Life has truly gotten in the way but since it is a new year I will to start fresh and keep you informed on what I am up too. This year has been a whirlwind. Especially the last month. I started a new teaching position at the beginning of the school year in a brand new school district, Adam and I started a Star Wars blog, and the best part of this year is Adam and me got married! I want to take some time to talk about that experience.
Adam and I met about 18 months along on a dating app. We clicked right away. Both of us had been in failed relationships and were recovering from divorces. We talked/texted for nearly 12 hours straight when we first connected and didn’t get bored with each other. After our first date, we deleted the app and have been together ever since. Every day is an adventure and I look forward to spending my life with him. We have a strong foundation in our relationship. On day one we decided to always share our feelings and be honest with one another. I think that’s important. We have an open and honest relationship.
Our wedding was simple but one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I will forever remember all of the little details. We had both had big weddings before and we said from the beginning of our relationship before marriage was on the table that we would get married at the courthouse the next time around. When we decided to get married we did just that. We got up early on December 30th and went down to the courthouse at 8:00 am. We had our marriage license from the previous week and were ready to have the ceremony performed. The woman who handled our paperwork put on a dark hunter green robe took us in the ceremony room to marry us. Like I said before it was simple. It was just us, I wore a Her Universe black and white Darth Vader dress and he wore his one and only suit with a rebel alliance tie. We said the traditional wedding vows to each other and roughly 5 minutes later we were married. Just as married as anyone else at a fraction of the cost. Later that night we had a family dinner with both sets up parents and one of our daughters. The other two were not feeling well. The next day was my birthday. We went to Disney and had a wonderful time. We ended up staying until we rang in the new year. We have been married for about 2 weeks now. I have changed my name and can officially call myself Lindsey Soucie. That might seem funny since my domain has been lindseysoucie.com this whole time.
I know things won’t always be easy but as long as I have Adam in my life I have a true partner in every sense of the word. We balance each other out. We can both be crazy at times and get stuck in our heads. We are able to see that in one another and reel each other back in. I am truly blessed to have him in my life and I can’t wait to see what the future holds. He is my Aquaman and I am his Mera.
